AARGAU, Laufenburg
Turnosegroschen, 28mm 3.25g, HMZ 2-1
An extremely rare coin, this example is the one most often seen
in catalogues and sold for $9,700 in October 2005. Note the very unusual Gothic
form of the numerals in the date, looking like inverted 'h's.

AUSTRIA, Tirol
Schauguldiner, 46.5mm 29.99g, Schulten 4438
A very large, impressive early guldiner. The schauguldiners
were more medallic pieces than actual circulation coins but were minted to the
same weight and composition. This piece sold for $3740.

This second piece sold for $3900

BADEN
Goldgulden, 23mm, Schulten 78

BRANDENBURG-FRANCONIA
Goldgulden, 23mm 3.20g, Schulten 193 - Schwabach mint

BRESLAU, City
Groschen, 24mm, Schulten 623

FRANKFURT
Goldgulden, 23mm ~3.0g, Schulten 852

HESSE
Albus, 27mm ~2.15-2.35g, Schulten 1218

HUNGARY
Goldgulden, 22mm 3.58g, Huszar 776
This coin, from Hermannstadt, is a rarer mint than the much
more common Kremnitz coins, and is denoted by the H-(ram) mintmark. It sold
for appx. $2,000. Note how the engraver simply used the hollow pellet punch
for creating the word dividers as the '0' in the date! This was a much more
common practice earlier in the medieval period when engravers had fewer punches
to work with. The second coin is from Kremnitz, with its K-H mintmark (and a
normally engraved '0')

MAINZ
Goldgulden, 23mm, Schulten 1948
A rare goldgulden, this coin sold for nearly $2040. Both '5's
are of the Gothic style.

SALZBURG
Pfennig (uniface), 15mm ~0.5g, not in catalogues

ST. GALLEN
Dicken, 28mm 9.6g, HMZ 2-887
This is the most common year for this type and is quite affordable
with an impressive design.

ZURICH
Dicken, 28mm, HMZ 2-1125
