The following are links to sites that discuss medieval (and occasionally
later) coins to some extent. Sites that merely illustrate a few medieval
coins are not included. Sites marked with a "***" are highly
recommended viewing either for comprehensiveness or sheer quality.
THE MEDIEVAL
COINS GROUP
The best set of links and discussion about medieval
coinage I've found (in English at least). I would encourage anyone
with an interest in medieval coins to join the (sadly inactive of
late) mailing list and contribute.
EVERYCOUNTRY
Everycountry is a large Yahoo mailing list (160+ members) maintained
by collectors of coins whose goal is at least one piece from as many
different issuing authorities as possible. An ever-growing checklist
of coin issuing states, cities, and other minting authorities is available.
Medieval and early modern coins are always welcome for discussion
and the group holds a monthly online voice chat through Yahoo Messenger
on the first Friday of each month.
DENMARK
· *** Dansk Mønt

vain elsewhere!

coins through roughly 1300 AD.
FINLAND
· Finnish Numismatic
Society - A short monetary history
of Finland

its monetary history with nice illustrations of dies and coins.
GERMANY
· Die Münzen der
Welfen - Covers the Brunswick dynasties (Luneburg, Hannover,
etc.) from the late Renaissance onwards very thoroughly, but few medieval
coins. Great photos, however.
· Mittelalter Münzen
- Several hundred photos of German medieval coins, appears
to be only sporadically updated.
·
Münsteraner Münzen - A few dozen photos from
this German city and region are shown, some from the medieval period.
· *** Waldecker
Münzen - Fantastic online catalogue of hundreds
of coins from the little state(s) of Waldeck-Pyrmont in Germany! Must
be seen to be believed, the designer should be highly commended for
his execution of the project. Javascript must be turned on.
LOWLANDS (Belgium, Luxembourg,
Netherlands)

Koninklijk Nederlands Genootschap voor Munt- en Penningkunde
- The website of the Royal Dutch Numismatic Society
·
Numismatische Kring Brabant - A nice club in Brabant
with a comprehensive bibliography
of Lowlands area coins.

the catalogue
of coins from Groningen with numerous photos, a list of literature,
and a great set of links.

FORUMS AND MAILING LISTS
Early

list and Yahoo Group

incluing one devoted to medieval coins.
